AKC junior showmanship outfit help.?
OK- I asked a similar question in fashion and only got one real answer, so maybe the dog people ARE the way to go! LOL! My daughter is 10 (and small for her age- still wears a kids size 8 pants and a medium shirt) but is very much a tomboy. Where can I find a pant suit for her to wear in junior showmanship? She currently wears either black pants or tan chinos and a plain white fitted blouse. It doesn't seem dressy enough when all the other girls are wearing dresses and the boys are wearing suits and ties (they dress better than some of the adult handlers lol!) Any help??
Dee Dawg- we had ten (5 of each) two weeks ago. Unfortunately, we lost one the first week despite our best efforts, but the rest are growing like crazy now! 
My daughter started showing in Jr.s when she was 10 (before they lowered the age limit)... by then she'd been showing in the breed ring for 3 years. We sourced her clothes usually in the women's petites section -- and we also found several very nice outfits in women's stores in the asian section of town (and got them tailored there).
FWIW - My daughter decided early on that if she was going to be competitive she HAD to wear a skirt - This wasn't something that I said or did anything about - it was mere observation that:
1) Jr girls in skirts won more often than girls in pants - and she considered the skirt/nylons combo to be the equivalent of the males ties.
2) Women who are professional handlers wear skirt suits about 90% of the time. Since she was competing with them in the breed ring she figured she better measure up.
3) She got hooked on the "Aww.. isn't that cute?" thing.
While teaching a Jr. handling class for 4-H at age 14 she once said "You know, if I were in ballet, tap or playing hockey I would have to wear special gear - this is a SPORT - and the suit is part of the gear... 3/4 of the Jrs she taught made it to State competition that year.
Edit - I forgot to add - a couple of her suits had "skorts" and a couple had cuffed long shorts (cut down from pants). They were worn with nylons. The long shorts and skorts (as well as skirts) lengthened the amount of time between needing to buy new clothes due to growing.
